Loan of Beekeeping Equipment

9/5/2023 - It was great to lend Westfield Primary School a hive, frames, smoker and bee suit for the primary school bee project. They really enjoyed learning all about bees.

Honey Bee Talks

3/11/2023 - Winchburgh Beavers  at Winchburgh Community Centre, had a Beekeeper visit and talk. The beavers and leaders listened very attentively and learned a lot about bees, hives and beekeeping. They also were very hands-on with wax comb, foundation, and all the tools beekeepers use thoughout the year.

27/6/2023 - Simpson Primary School in Bathgate had a Beekeeper visit from one of our PBKA beekeepers. He gave a talk to the P1  classes on honey bees as part of their learning about "Mini-Beasts". The children listened really well and asked fantastic questions. They saw a hive, frames, foundation, wax as well as a number of beekeeping tools - smoker, hive tool, queen catcher and marking pens. They learned how honey bees communicate and did very enthusiastic "waggle dances" ! Thanks go to the wonderful P1 teachers for the invitation.
